Senior Product Designer, Developer Foundations

Ready to do the most impactful work of your career? At Coinbase, we are uncompromising on our mission to increase economic freedom. The bar is high, the environment is intense, and we like it that way. This isn't a place for complacency, it’s a place to be pushed past your perceived limits. If you're ready to build the future of finance alongside people who refuse to settle for "good enough," you belong here. Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Expect to get together quarterly for intense in-person working sessions called “surges.”

As a Senior Product Designer on the Developer Foundations team within the Developer Product Group, you'll shape the end-to-end experience for developers building on Coinbase. This team owns the Developer Portal, including documentation, API dashboards, and onboarding flows that are the front door for every external developer integrating with our platform. You'll lead design for these critical surfaces, turning complex technical workflows into clear, intuitive experiences that drive developer adoption and success at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design for the Developer Portal, spanning documentation, API dashboards, onboarding flows, and self-service tooling.
• Lead design system contributions specific to developer-facing surfaces, ensuring consistency and scalability across the Portal experience.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Developer Relations to identify friction points in the developer journey and ship high-impact improvements.
• Drive user research and usability testing with external developers to validate design decisions and uncover unmet needs.
• Shape how AI-powered features surface within the Portal, including intelligent search, contextual guidance, and code generation experiences.
• Build and maintain design specs, prototypes, and interaction patterns in Figma that serve as the source of truth for engineering delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product design experience, with at least 2 years designing developer tools, technical platforms, or documentation experiences.
• Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end design for complex, multi-surface products shipped to production.
• Proven experience contributing to or maintaining a design system, with a portfolio showing systematic, scalable design thinking.
• Proficiency in Figma for design delivery, prototyping, and design system management.
• Track record of integrating user research insights into design decisions, with examples of how research changed a shipped outcome.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
