We counted 250 open crypto dev roles at 64 companies. About 75% of the ones open to juniors come from a single company.
Snapshot of 22 October 2026. We read the career pages of 121 crypto companies: 778 open roles posted in the last two weeks, 250 of them for developers (at 64 companies). It's a sample of the market, not all of it.

What the titles say
Only 4 of the 250 dev roles have "junior" or "intern" in the title.
3 are internships at Bitpanda (data engineer, Java engineer, business intelligence). 1 is at Coinbase. Not a single full-time role says "junior".

But a title doesn't tell you everything.
What the descriptions say
Some companies run programs for early-career people and never write "junior" in the title. So we also counted roles with a program, an internship, a fellowship or "associate" in the title, and roles where the first requirement is 2 years of experience or less. Anything with senior, lead, manager or head in the title is out.
That gives 48 dev roles open to early-career people, at 9 companies:
37 are Binance, inside two programs: the Binance Accelerator Program and the Pioneer Talent Program. About 75% of the list.
11 are at 8 other companies: Bitpanda (3), Coinbase (2), and one each at Asymmetric Research, Augustus, BCB Group, BVNK, Helius and Mural.
Only 3 of the 48 are US-only.

So if you are at the start of your career, almost everything open right now is one company.
What everyone else asks for
141 dev roles say how many years of experience they want. Taking the first number in the description:
The median is 5 years.
64% ask for 5+ years. 86% ask for 3+.
Only 13% ask for 2 years or less.

The numbers are approximate. A description can mention several, and we took the first. Most of them mean engineering experience in general, not crypto.
Why it looks like this
We don't know. Our guesses:
Companies don't want to train people. A smart contract holds real money, and a mistake is expensive.
And a lot of newcomers leave crypto anyway. Electric Capital counted that more than half of developers with a year or less of experience were gone by December 2023 (Blockworks).
It's not only crypto. Indeed found that the share of US tech job posts asking for 5+ years went from 37% to 42% between 2022 and 2025. A Dragonfly survey of 85 crypto companies put entry-level roles at under 10% (Cointelegraph).
People keep coming, though. The Ethereum Foundation, citing Electric Capital, counted 16,181 new developers on Ethereum and its layer twos in the first 9 months of 2025.
